Astrakhan Summit agreed principles of the Caspian Sea – to Pravda.Ru



September 29 in Astrakhan was the fourth summit of the five Caspian states. As a result, the five countries agreed on key principles of the Caspian Sea.

Representatives presidents Azerabaydzhana, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan’s before it starts hoping for a breakthrough that would advance the ongoing negotiations for 18 years establishing the legal convention on the status of the Caspian Sea.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the summit that “managed to reach a clear language on the delimitation of water areas, the seabed and subsoil of the regime of navigation and fishing”.

Thus, the national sovereignty of the parties will be distributed over the coastal sea space in the range of 15 nautical miles to the area adjacent to the 10-mile zone will extend the exclusive right of each party to the production of marine biological resources, according to a policy statement adopted by the Presidents five countries.

A large part of the Caspian Sea will remain in common use of the parties, have the Russian president. What methodologies used in establishing baselines areas will be the subject of further consultation between the parties, stated in a statement.
