Putin: Western reaction to the Crimea to Russia inadequate – NTV.ru

Vladimir Putin gave an interview to German TV channel ARD, which answered many pressing international issues. The full text of the interview posted on the website of the President.

Among other issues, the German journalist Hubert Seipel and asked about whether Russia could provide Western reaction to the Crimea to Russia.

Vladimir Putin : «We believe this reaction is totally inadequate for what happened. When we hear complaints about the fact that Russia violated international law, it is nothing but surprise, I did not cause it. International law ?? it is primarily the Charter of the United Nations, it is international practice and explanation of this practice relevant international institutions. And then, we have a bright and fresh precedent ?? Kosovo precedent ».

The Russian leader recalled the decision of the International Court, according to which Kosovo had the right to self-determination.

Vladimir Putin :« Nothing else besides what was done in Kosovo, in the Crimea was not done. I am deeply convinced that no violations of international law did not allow Russia ».

The President of Russia said that has never concealed the participation of the armed forces of the Russian Federation in the process of joining the Crimea.

Vladimir Putin : «Our armed forces blockaded the Ukrainian armed forces stationed in the Crimea, but not to force someone to go to vote, it’s impossible to do, but in order to prevent bloodshed, to enable people to express their own attitude to how they want to determine their own future and their children’s future ».

The Russian leader said that democracy is the right of people to self-determination right.

Vladimir Putin : «Kosovo only solution parliament declared its independence. In Crimea, people are not only the decision of the parliament announced they came to a referendum, and it was simply stunning on the results. ”
