MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. The Russian Federation agreed to the request by Ukraine to conduct an inspection in one of the districts of the Rostov region in the framework of the Vienna document 2011. This was announced by the head of the Russian national Centre for reducing nuclear danger Sergey Ryzhkov.
“In the period from January 16 to January 19, 2017 Ukraine requested the Russian Federation on holding on its territory the inspection of the specified area in the framework of the Vienna document 2011 on confidence-building measures and security,” he said.
Ryzhkov noted that the area of the district in whose territory pass inspection is about 16 thousand sq. km.
He stressed that the purpose of such measures is the determination of the size or confirmation of the absence of military activities within a specified area.
On the territory of the Russian Federation will also host experts from Germany and Serbia. German experts will visit with inspection 252 motorized rifle regiment, stationed in the city of Boguchar of the Voronezh region. According to Ryzhkov, the purpose of this inspection is to verify previously provided by the Russian side information about military forces and plans for the deployment of major weapons systems and military equipment of this regiment. He also noted that the inspectors will be submitted prescribed in the Vienna document briefing and the opportunity to see during the visit, the personnel and major systems of AME regiment.
Serbian experts will carry out inspection on the territory of one of areas of Moscow region. Ryzhkov noted that the area is about 3,500 sq. km. He stressed that the purpose of such inspections is to determine the extent or confirmation of the absence of military activities within a specified area. During the inspection, Serbian professionals will also be presented briefings from commanders of formations and military units of military activities on the territory of the district.
In accordance with the provisions of the Vienna document 2011, each state member of the OSCE has the right to carry out inspections in the territory of any other state party. The inspecting state may also invite other participating States to take part in the inspection.
