Putin: Turkey committed a crime, Russia’s reaction is restrained – RIA Novosti

Stavropol, January 25 – RIA Novosti. The Turkish authorities have made a huge mistake by shooting down a Russian bomber in Syria, while Russia’s reaction to this crime was more than muted, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We believe that the Turkish government made a huge mistake by shooting down our aircraft, so even with the ground the people they supposedly protected, shot our pilot. Our reaction is more than restrained it a war crime,” – he said, Putin said at a meeting of the interregional forum ONF.

The relations between Russia and Turkey in crisis after the November 24 Turkish F-16 fighters shot down in Syria, Russia’s Su-24 bomber. Russian President Vladimir Putin called it a “stab in the back” by the accomplices of terrorists. Ankara has said that Russian aircraft entered its airspace. Putin signed a decree on measures to ensure national security and on the Special Economic Measures against Turkey.
