MOSCOW, 10 Dec — RIA Novosti. the widow of the first President of Russia Naina Yeltsin called false statements of the Director Nikita Mikhalkov, criticized the activity of “Yeltsin Centre”.
on Friday during the parliamentary hearings in the Federation Council he stated that “Yeltsin Centre” destroys the national identity of hundreds of children every day, because it provides a biased assessment of the history of Russia.
“I am deeply shocked by these statements Mikhalkov. And not only because they are false, not having any relation to “Yeltsin Centre” nor to his activity. What is striking is that he for the past few months spreading lies about how the history of the country in the Museum of the first President of Russia did not hesitate to pull out of context the elements of the exposition, label it, and directly to insult people who in those years worked for the good of our country,” said Naina Yeltsin, whose words are given on the website of the “Yeltsin Centre”.
She recalled that Mikhalkov never there was “Yeltsin Center” in Yekaterinburg. “How can you criticize something that is not seen?!” — asked she. The widow of the first President of the Russian Federation emphasized that the center “there is no varnishing of the era, there is generally no ratings – only documents, only the facts, only the testimony of eyewitnesses.”
Yeltsin added that work on creation of the centre was carried out under the direct supervision of the Board of Trustees, which during those years was headed by the head of the presidential administration. She also drew attention that the President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visited the center and in their speeches at the opening gave it high marks.
“Despite the false statements of the Director and spiteful comments rabid Communists who by their efforts brought our country, the Soviet Union, to the destruction, “Yeltsin Centre” filled with people from morning until late evening. I am very pleased,” said Yeltsin.
“Yeltsin Centre” opened in Yekaterinburg in November 2015, the opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The main objective of the center is to preserve, study and understanding of the historical heritage of Boris Yeltsin in the context of political and social events of 90-ies of XX century. The centre was conceived as a socio-political organization that promotes the rule of law, the study and development of Institute of presidency in Russia.
