Amnesty International: Crimes Battalion "Aydar" – RBC

The report of the human rights organization Amnesty International confirms large-scale crime volunteer battalion “Aydar” in Luhansk region. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human rights, democracy and the rule of law, Konstantin Dolgov.

He said a report on the actions of human rights defenders “Aydar” in the north of the Lugansk region, which was released on Monday. It says that in July and August the Battalion illegally detained those suspected of aiding the rebels. Sometimes prisoners were beaten and robbed, and demanded a ransom for their release. There are suspicions that the “Aydar” extrajudicial executions were carried out.

Ukrainian security officials have not commented on the report. Human rights activists have criticized the first time hand Donbass conflict for war crimes.
