Moscow, September 10 – AIF Moscow.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be expanded under the chairmanship of Russia, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
11-12 September in Dushanbe SCO summit will be held, which will be attended by heads of states – members of the organization (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), as well as representatives of observer countries and international organizations. Following the summit, Russia will become the next president of the organization.
«At a summit in Dushanbe will decide who will complete the formation of the legal, administrative and financial conditions for the admission of new members of the SCO. This will provide an opportunity during the Russian presidency to begin the process of enlargement, “- says Lavrov. The Foreign Minister also added that members of the organization are going to be India, Iran and Pakistan.
Earlier, at a meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the ministers discussed the agenda of the summit. However, Russia insisted on a new version of the documents governing the granting of the status of the state – a member of the SCO. In addition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Customs Union is open to friends. In the near future it enters Armenia, advancing negotiations with Kyrgyzstan.
We recall one of the key themes of last year’s SCO summit was the situation around Syria.
