Prime banned to produce paper on Baikal – Russian newspaper

Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree №186, which imposes a ban on the production of paper, paperboard, pulp and wood products in the central ecological zone of the Baikal natural territory, according to the government website.

In addition, the document sets out the restrictions that prevent construction in the area of ​​new coal-fired boilers (with the possibility of upgrading existing).

At the same time the government’s ban lifted restrictions on certain activities, which “lowered the investment attractiveness of the Baikal natural territory and inhibit the development of a special economic zone of tourist-recreational type “Gate of Baikal”.

In particular, the lifting of restrictions on the collection and distribution for the needs of local consumers of electricity generated outside the Baikal area, as well as the construction companies for the production of bread, pastry and pasta.
