Disaster and hard landing of helicopters Mi-8 in 2015-2016 in Russia – TASS

On 21 October, the Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian airline “SKOL”, to perform the rotational flight of the Suzun oil-and-gas field (Krasnoyarsk Krai) to New Urengoy, made a hard landing near the village of Urengoy (Purovsky district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district). On Board were three crew members and 22 passengers. As a result of incident, according to preliminary data, three people had been injured.

April 23, 2015 the helicopter Mi-8T (registration number RA-22919) of the Russian airline “Vityaz-Aero” which was carrying out commercial flight on the route “village of Esso, the river Hill” (Kamchatka Krai), made a hard landing on the slope in the upper reaches of the river Migiwa. On Board were three crew members and three passengers, they were injured. The crash had damaged the fuselage of the helicopter, destroyed the tail boom and main rotor blades.

June 2, 2015 the Mi-8 helicopter (registration number RA-22580) of the Russian company “UTair – Helicopter services” transporting explosives 60 km North of the airport Talakan (Lensky district of Yakutia), after takeoff collided with trees, was damaged and made an emergency landing. On Board were three crew members and a passenger, two people in the accident were seriously injured. The cause of the accident was speeding in the acceleration of the helicopter, coupled with the exceeding of the permissible maximum mass of the aircraft, this led to the drawdown of the machine during takeoff.

July 2, 2015 the helicopter Mi-8T (registration number RA-22589) of the company “UTair – Helicopter services”, carrying out flight back after transportation of the sick child from Surgut to Nizhnevartovsk (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug), stopped communicating. On Board were three crew members and two paramedics. July 9, in the channel cross the Ob river was found the body of the second pilot Daulat Zulkarnaeva and fragments of the helicopter, July 16 found the body of the aircraft commander Igor Pavlyuk and resuscitation Ilya Shevelev. Considers three versions of accident – violation of the rules of operation and the safety of the flight, adverse weather conditions or equipment failure.

August 15, 2015 the Mi-8 helicopter (registration number RA-22559) to the Russian airline “Vostok”, carrying out commercial flight from Khabarovsk on the shore of the Bay Onahan with a stopover in the village of them. Polina Osipenko (Khabarovsk Krai), fell into the sea of Okhotsk Bay Onahan in the area of the Shantar Islands in 30 m from the shore. On Board were three crew members and 13 passengers. Five people were killed.

November 26, 2015 in the Krasnoyarsk region helicopter Mi-8T (registration number RA-25361) of the Russian airline “turuhan”, transporting oil workers-shift workers from the city of Igarka in the Vankor field, made a hard landing on the ice of the Yenisei river shortly after takeoff. Onboard there were 25 persons – three crew members and 22 passengers. The aircraft is partially collapsed and caught fire. The disaster killed 13 people, another 12 people were injured.

16 Dec 2015 the Mi-8 helicopter (tail number RA-24402) of the Russian airline “Vityaz-Aero” made a hard landing in the Kamchatka region, 77 km from the village of Sobolevo. The result is tipping to one side when climbing, one person was killed and 11 people were injured, five of them were hospitalized in serious condition. In total onboard there were 25 persons, the aircraft was carrying a change of gas companies.

February 8, 2016 the Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian defense Ministry made a hard landing in the Pskov region, killing three crew members and a technician-instructor. The helicopter carried out planned training flight from the airfield of the Island, the accident occurred 5 km from the airport, near the village. Cherepahina, Ostrovsky district.

June 16, 2016 the Mi-8 helicopter (registration number RA-22821) the Russian airline “Airline Siberia”, carrying out flight on a route Panicheva – Serovo – Ostaninskaya (Tomsk region), made an emergency landing in the area of oil and gas condensate field North Ostaninskaya. On Board were three crew members and 22 passengers-shift workers, one of whom after the incident, sought medical help. In the course of landing at the aircraft snapped the tail boom. September 3, 2016 the Mi-8 helicopter of the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation at performance of planned flight made a hard landing at the airport Sokol (Sakhalin region). According to the war Department, in the incident, which occurred at night in adverse weather conditions, none of the crew members and passengers were not injured. According to media reports, on Board were ten people (three crew members and seven passengers), one man received a head injury. Helicopter after landing completely burned.

September 21, 2016 the Mi-8 helicopter of Zhukovsky air rescue center of EMERCOM of Russia, carrying out training flight in the Lyubertsy district, Moscow region, crashed near the town of Lytkarino. Killing all three aboard – the captain, the chief of the Zhukovsky air rescue center of EMERCOM 38-year-old Roman Frolov, co-pilot, his Deputy, 42-year-old Dmitry Arsentiev and flight engineer 32-year-old Maxim Filippov. According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident could be technical failure of the aircraft.

10 Oct 2016 in the Zeya district of the Amur region, 50 km from the village Mountain, the helicopter Mi-8T (registration number RA-22771) of the Russian airline “Delta-K”, on Board of which there were three crew members and three passengers, takeoff from a geodetic platform tilted by a gust of wind hit the rotor blades to the ground and fell on its side. Three people received minor injuries.
