Republic of Udmurtia, Kursk and the Astrakhan region were the most corrupt regions in Russia in the first half of 2016, write “News” with reference to the report Prosecutor General’s Office.
Kursk region became a record for the number of registered crimes related to corruption. Since the beginning of the year the number of crimes committed increased by 189% and reached 257 crimes (last year there were only 89).
Following the Kursk region is Udmurtia. There is growing crimes was 113% (79 crimes against 37 last year). In the Astrakhan region the number of corruption-related crimes increased by 105% (74 against 36 last year).
Overall, law enforcement agencies registered in the Russian regions, more than 21 thousand corruption crimes. The index rose by 2%, compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in some regions the number of corruption offenses, on the contrary, decreased. The largest decrease recorded in the Kamchatka region (80%, from 24 offenses to five), the Arkhangelsk region (by 62%, from 117 to 44) and in the Smolensk region (50%, from 71 to 35).
