Russia’s envoy to NATO refused to discuss in Moscow questions of military security in the Baltic sea – TASS

MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. NATO refused to discuss issues of air security in the Baltic sea region at the level of military experts in Moscow. This was stated by the permanent representative of Russia to NATO Alexander Grushko in an interview with TV channel “Russia 24″.

“the fact that NATO countries refused the proposed expert meetings at the military level in Moscow on all aspects of air safety in this region, indicative”, he stressed.

In particular, as noted Grushko, the reluctance of NATO countries to discuss the issue of the transponder and the pairing of military and civilian air traffic as a whole demonstrates the insincerity of the policy of NATO in this matter.

“as soon As we said, the topic of transponders has virtually disappeared from the political lexicon of the NATO countries. It ceased to exist, and until recently, few raised it. And I’m not sure that NATO is sincerely willing to negotiate accession to such regime,” – said the diplomat.

In July, Vladimir Putin at a press conference with President of Finland Sauli Niinistö said that Moscow supports the proposal of Helsinki on banning flights over the Baltic sea aircraft off the transponders. Later, the defense Ministry has invited military experts of Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Finland to be held in September in Moscow consultations on military-political situation in Europe.

About the extension of the East

the Expansion of NATO to the East is not that are inconsistent with, and contrary to the European security interests, Grushko said.

“Obviously, the strengthening of the Eastern flank – it’s just a project that directly not only inconsistent with and contrary to the European security interests”, the diplomat said.

According to him, the totality of the efforts of the Alliance will change the very content of military security in the regions which are immediately adjacent to the Russian borders. “Seriously worsens regional security and the security of those States which in the exercise of this activity and participate,” – said the diplomat.

Information warfare

permanent representative of the Russian Federation believes that the information war with the Alliance rolls, an example being the hysteria about the campaign aircraft carrier group of the Northern fleet in the northeastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean sea.

“I was just amazed at the intensity of the hysteria that has been arranged, primarily in the media, regarding the passage “Admiral Kuznetsov” and auxiliary vessels through the English channel. And the impression was that NATO had no worries as to think about how it will look in the solidarity of the Alliance if suddenly one or two countries give permission for refueling. All this shows only one thing: the information war rolls over and begins to devour its own children,” he said.

Carrier group of the Northern fleet began the campaign in the northeastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean sea, 15 Oct. According to the press service of the Northern fleet, the group includes the heavy aircraft carrying cruiser “Admiral Kuznetsov”, the heavy nuclear missile cruiser “Pyotr Veliky”, large anti-submarine ships “Severomorsk” and “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” and support vessels. The aim of the campaign is to ensure naval presence in operationally important areas of the oceans.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, commenting on speculation about the refueling of Russian warships in Spain on the way to the Mediterranean, expressed concern over the fact that the Russian aircraft carrier group, according to him, can be used to enhance the strikes on Aleppo, Syria.

preparing for the next meeting of the Council Russia-NATO

Moscow is working on the preparation of the next meeting of the Council Russia – NATO. “Now we are working on it”, – said Grushko, answering the question of when may be a meeting of the countries-participants.

the Last meeting of the Council NATO – Russia was held on 13 July in Brussels.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday following the discussion of defence Ministers of the Alliance’s relations with Russia that the Alliance is committed to constructive relations with Russia and is ready to host a new meeting of the Council Russia – NATO to discuss further measures to prevent risks and incidents.
