Zakharov told about the three requests of the state Department on a conversation with Lavrov – RBC

the U.S. Department of State several times in recent days has sent the request to the MFA of Russia on carrying out of telephone negotiations, but the state Department, all requests canceled. This was stated by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, reports “RIA Novosti”.

According to Zakharova, the us side three times sent a request for a telephone conversation foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry. “They were cancelled by the Americans,” — said the representative of the foreign Ministry.

Earlier, on 5 July, U.S. state Department spokesman John Kirby said that the American side is not ready to resume the Russian-American talks on Syria. On 4 November the initiative for the resumption of dialogue between Russia and the US regarding the Syrian issue was made by the special envoy of China on Syria Xie Xiaoyan. Kirby noted that attempts to “work with the Russians in the bilateral format <…> to end the Syrian crisis, <…> didn’t lead anywhere”. Kirby explained that “the Russians were not prepared to fulfil their obligations”.
