For 25 years, no ordered structure of the Polish army command in case of war. Such an opinion was expressed in PR24 Andrew Walentek, an expert on defense.
In the current Polish legal system has no function army commander – said the expert. The Polish People’s Republic, as explained, the roles were clearly defined. It’s about the Polish Front Command, the structure was completely independent of the army, which operated every day. They belonged to the most capable officers also trained in the Soviet Union. And at a time when there would be some kind of confrontation east – west with the participation of Polish troops, this narrow group was prepared by the hour to take key positions and command the army during the war. – Said Andrzej Walentek. Now we do not have anything like that and still have a long road ahead of us – he added.
The changes are coming, but it takes time. Similarly to the rebuilding of modern Polish army – said Paul Soloch turn of the Sobieski Institute.
The good news is the announcement of President Komorowski to increase defense spending from 1.95 to 2 percent. GDP, an increase of about 800 million zł. Equally important is explained in the Polish Radio 24 Paul Soloch, proper training of soldiers.
Our gripe is the lack of mobilization of reserves – said Paweł Soloch. We are able to mobilize enough troops who are already trained, and if anything will be in the unit and are able to operate equipment that is there. It is a national disaster reserve forces. It was to be 20,000 reservists but they do not. In addition there are scattered units – said the expert.
According to Soloch first have to build an appropriate organizational structure, which is to take care of properly prepared and trained people. Only for them to match the appropriate purchases of tanks, aircraft, and other military equipment that a modern army is very necessary.
