But, probably, it would be wrong to furnish them with some very stringent security measures: churches and pastors should be open to people. Such measures are taken only when there is a mass gathering of people, which is quite justified. But the temple – especially small and especially rural – unprotected by definition. Nevertheless, Orthodox Christians, especially Christian men, might well think about how to protect their churches and their pastors in the framework of the law. Incidentally, in connection with the recent murder of a priest in France, I suggested that the Orthodox have received a great chance – to call for the creation of the Christian anti-terrorist militia there.
