NATO refused expert meeting in Moscow to discuss security issues in the Baltic sea, including military flights-enabled transponders. About Russia’s permanent representative to NATO Alexander Glushko said the TV channel “Russia 24″.

“This topic is not removed from the agenda of the Council Russia-NATO, but the fact that NATO countries refused the proposed expert meetings at the military level, to non-political talk on all aspects of safe air traffic in the region, in General, is significant,” he said.

Earlier, on October 27, during the plenary session of the International discussion club “Valdai” Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the NATO countries rejected the proposal on military flights in the region of the Baltic sea with the recognition devices (transponders).

In July 2016, Putin held talks with President of Finland Sauli Niinistö. Following the meeting, the heads of state agreed to develop a system that improves security in the Baltic sea region and to oblige the aircraft to fly only included recognition devices.
