In the capital of Bashkortostan Ufa completed its work SCO and BRICS summits. The highlight can be considered the beginning of the procedure for the adoption of the SCO India and Pakistan, though it was not a secret to anyone. Even became known to the interesting moments of the bilateral meeting of the Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan, where President Islam Karimov expressed his doubts about the feasibility of this expansion, given the fact that the new members of the organization have nuclear weapons.
It is worth noting that even the tense relations between India and Pakistan (in its short history of independence of these countries have held three full-scale wars, not counting today’s clashes on the border) did not become a barrier to entry into the SCO.
Before joining the SCO, India and Pakistan should ratify about three dozens of documents, among them the Treaty on Long-providing for the principle of inviolability of borders and the strengthening of “trust in the military field in the border areas.” Of course, we should not forget that such a beautiful phrase does not interfere with skirmishes on the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
However, other SCO leaders no doubt that the decision by India and China, the SCO will benefit, although until recently China has actively opposed the expansion of the SCO to the south.
China, the SCO as an organization bringing together Central Asian countries, has been beneficial, as it allows to solve the economic issues, coordinating them with Moscow. But Russia opposed the establishment of the SCO Development Bank, which would be dominated by China. At the summit, Putin called for the continuation of work on the creation of such a bank, but called for greater use of the Eurasian Development Bank, Asian Development Bank infrastructure investment and creating a new development bank of BRICS.
