Putin made a postponement of the law on personal data – RBC

Before the press-secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that on the instructions of the head of state relevant departments will study the possibility to delay the entry into force of the law on personal data.

The law was signed on December 31 2014. Under the current wording, it should enter into force on 1 September 2015. The document prohibits storing personal data on servers of Russians abroad. This data includes information that helps to identify the person – his full name, date of birth, address, and much more.

According to the estimates of the European Centre for International Political Economy, the loss of the domestic economy from the entry into force of the law “On personal data “will make 286 billion rubles. – 0.27% of GDP.
