Russian Ambassador denied separate talks with Iraqi Kurds on arms transfers – Sight

Moscow does not conduct separate negotiations with the Iraqi Kurds on the supply of arms, it is transferred to the Kurdish side on the approved schedule and in coordination with the official Baghdad, said Russian ambassador to Iraq Ilya Morgunov.

“All questions of deliveries of the Russian side in the Iraq military products based on the previously signed or future contracts are discussed with representatives of the federal Iraqi government in Baghdad or in Moscow”, – said the RIA “Novosti” Russian diplomat, commenting on the agreement on deliveries of Russian weapons to Iraq.

«Ordered weapons supplied to the Iraqi employer to the extent of its production by Russian enterprises in accordance with timelines, approved the contracts,” – he said.

Earlier, the head of the Kurdistan office in Moscow Aso Talabani said that one of the delegation’s visit to Iraqi Kurdistan in Russia in April will be the continuation of supplies of Russian weapons.

He also said that Iraqi Kurdistan needs a supply of “all kinds of weapons” on the part of Russia.

Moscow transferred to the armed forces of Iraqi Kurdistan party ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft installations and ammunition, reported in the Russian Consulate General in Erbil, noting that all arms supplies are in agreement with the official Baghdad.
