In Moscow with shooting detained alleged racketeers – RBC

The Moscow police have detained three men suspected of extorting money from taxi drivers, minibuses and individual entrepreneurs providing passenger transport services. It is reported by the metropolitan management of the Russian Interior Ministry.

According to investigators, the suspects tried to extort money for the creation of “the so-called favorable conditions of work.” According to the Interior Ministry press service, the members of the group threatened to burn vehicles and use physical force in case of failure to pay the money. According to investigators, the man demanded one million rubles from the owner of the six-taxi cars, and he, in turn, handed over the money.

Management reports that the detention of one of the members of the group, 31-year-old native of the North Caucasus, tried to escape from police. As a result, he made a traffic accident involving an official vehicle, but went into hiding. After the police shot at the wheels of his car, the man was arrested. Later, the department had taken his two accomplices -. 34-year-old native of the North Caucasus region and 31-year-old resident of Central Asia

Law enforcement authorities initiated a criminal case on grounds of crime under part 3 of article 163 of the Criminal Code (extortion). In relation to them a preventive measure in the form of detention. Residence defendants in the criminal case were raided. In the course of their police seized citizens receipts that indicate the involvement of the detainees to extortion, at least in six cases.
