Severomorsk, September 7 . Russia sent a group of warships of the Northern Fleet in the Arctic in order to restore a permanent base in the region.

According to the BBC, C, group of ships, which includes two landing ships and anti-submarine ship, went to the Navy base Severomorsk. They need to deliver the equipment and staff to the New Siberian Islands, where already in 1933 acted polar station.

The first military base on the island was abandoned in 1993.
