The White House released the information in connection with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Obama urged Europeans to unite in the face of Russia. As pointed out in his speech the US president, the union in East and West Germany suggests that the Germans and their allies in the Cold War were united. Fall of the Wall is a testament to the fact that none of the concrete barricade powerful, surrounded by barbed wire, not able to keep the common people in their quest to become free.
According to the leader of the United States, the fall of the Berlin Wall was a significant event not only for Europe but also for the whole world. It has played a leading role in many states. Countries of Central and Eastern Europe have achieved unprecedented success in the introduction of democratic reforms. As Obama said in a statement, Europe after the incident became more secure, integrated, and prosperous.
However, the actions by Russia against Ukraine, demonstrate that there is an urgent need to take additional steps to recreate a free, peaceful and united Europe. As the American guarantees, repressive regimes and walls can survive for a while, but sooner or later, but the desire for freedom and respect for human rights will prevail.
