“We are committed to a constructive relationship with Russia,” – said Stoltenberg .

“In our common interest – to avoid a return to the period of confrontation, we should seek cooperation with Russia,” – said Stoltenberg.

The new Secretary General turned his attention to a question regarding the contract France to supply helicopter “Mistral” to Russia. According Stoltenberg, questions about the sale of military equipment to foreign partners are in the competence of the national non-NATO countries.

“The military exports – internal affair of each country. NATO does not address such issues,” – said Stoltenberg. Meanwhile, in his next remark he made it clear that the position on this issue is “second floor.” “I would like to believe that all NATO countries, including France, clearly understand the consequences of their actions,” – said the secretary general.

Jens Stoltenberg also responded to a question about the possible accession to NATO in Sweden and Finland. “I respect the sovereignty of Sweden and Finland. These countries have to decide for yourself,” – he said. And he added that, “Sweden and Finland are working closely with NATO. But if I start this comment, just hear that interfere in their internal affairs”.
