Nechayev was appointed Deputy Governor of the Novgorod region in January 2014, he oversaw the investment unit. Prior to this appointment, he served as director of the Moscow Research Institute of special communication systems, automation and control. Previously, he worked in the structures of regional authorities – in 2003-2011, in the government of Mordovia in 2011-2012 – in the government of Irkutsk region.
