Pilot “Dagestan Airlines” Zakarzhi Zakarzhaev received a three-year suspended sentence for an emergency landing of Tu-154 at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport.
Today, Domodedovo city court sentenced the commander of the aircraft to three years probation and released from punishment under the amnesty. Most likely, this will be the final verdict. Let us recall that the very accident occurred in 2010. In December Tu-154 makes emergency landing in Moscow airport, barely having time to take off and climb. The problems with the engine crew reported immediately after takeoff. A half an hour after departure due to failure of the two engines of the three aircraft made a hard landing. In this case, the plane skidded off the runway, ran the hill and collapsed. On board were 163 passengers and nine crew members – two people died and about 80 were injured.
As soon as the bulk of the passengers were rescued, the pilot announced almost a hero. But very quickly praise communiques came to naught, and in relation to the pilot initiated a criminal case. It quickly became clear that, although almost all of the passengers on board survived, two victims were not just business-class passengers, and relatives of influential people in Dagestan. At least one mother was a senior judiciary of the country. Could these circumstances affect the initiation of the case, we can only guess. But for some Zakarzhaev remained a hero who saved in incredible conditions of more than 150 people, and for the other person, who, though heroic, but corrected his own mistake and negligence.
