Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has accused Russia of escalating violence in eastern Ukraine. “The Assembly expresses extreme concern the events in eastern Ukraine, and condemns Russia’s role in instigating and escalation of these events,” – said in a resolution adopted on 28 January. The document is not given the specific facts, but argued that the Russian side allegedly support arms “rebel forces” and is “hidden hostilities” in eastern Ukraine, informs “Interfax”. “In addition, the Assembly expresses its concern over the participation in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, a large number of Russian” volunteers “and the absence of the Russian authorities of any obvious action to stop this involvement, despite its contradiction of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation”, – stated in resolution.
