The scope of emergency on mine “South” in Kushva Sverdlovsk region, where this morning at a depth of 160 meters there was an explosion and suffered at least five miners, due to the fact that the bottom could detonate up to 12 kilograms of explosives.

The head of the press service of the State Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation for the Sverdlovsk region Valery burned, clarifying picture of what happened, said “RG”:

– According to preliminary data, from January 14, the company held preparatory work for the planned mass detonation of iron ore. Today horizon minus 160 meters in one of the rooms there was domestic fire (smoldering cotton padded jacket), which may have triggered the detonation of a large number of explosives, presumably ammonite. It is known that one of the miners got to work 12 kilograms of explosives. The police found that the room where the tragedy occurred, has a small footprint – only 2×3 square meters.

At the beginning of the shift in the mine dropped 89 people. After the incident on the surface were evacuated 86 workers. Recall that two of the 86 miners were hospitalized in the central hospital Kushva, their life is not threatened. This mine foreman was born in 1973 and scraper winch driver born in 1991. Doctors diagnosed them multiple injuries, the condition of both victims is satisfactory, said Valery Gorelykh.

While the whereabouts of three more mine workers: 1985, 1969 and 1960 birth, they are officially listed as missing. Rescue work continues.

Meanwhile, SU TFR in the Sverdlovsk region opened a criminal investigation into the violation of safety rules during mining operations, said “RG” agency spokesman Alexander Shulga.

To clarify the the causes of the tragic state of emergency and joined the prosecutor’s office of the Sverdlovsk region: she organized check on the fulfillment of safety requirements in the operations at the mine.
