Tatarstan State Council has made to the State Duma draft amendments to the Family and the Civil Procedure Code, aimed at increasing complexity of divorce proceedings.
From the document that proposed to increase the term of consideration of registry office applications for a one month termination of marriages to three and increase the time for reconciliation of spouses up to six months if they have common minor children and one spouse against divorce, RBC reports.
It also indicates that the authors of the bill for the exclusion of the possibility of cases of absentee divorce “without ascertaining the views of the other side».
Deputies believe that in a situation when the country is increasing the number of divorces (the authors refer to the statistics for 2014), the task of strengthening the institution of marriage requires a response at the state level. The introduction of the proposed measures, according to the authors of the initiative, will save a significant amount of marriages and protect the rights of minors.
Add social activists in Tatarstan proposed even more stringent conditions – to ban divorce before the age of children, but this initiative was not included in the final document. For the direction of the State Duma amendments voted 75 out of 100 deputies of Tatarstan, two against and two abstentions. However, some MPs have criticized the amendments.
