President Vladimir Putin signed a law to increase the minimum wage to 7500 rubles. This is more than the previous size of the minimum wage established in January, 1296 to RUB. – More than 20%

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin signed a with the legislation to raise the July 1, 2016 the minimum wage (SMIC) by more than 20%, to 7,500 rubles. The document was published on the official website of legal information.

The previous increase in the minimum wage was implemented January 1, 2016. Then the value of the minimum wage was increased by 4% and amounted to 6204 rubles.

The bill to raise the minimum wage was passed by the Parliament on May 17 and approved by the Federation Council on 25 May. The authors of the initiative were State Duma Sergei Neverov, Vladimir Vasiliev, Olga Batalina and Andrei Isayev, as well as members of the Federation Council Galina Karelov and Valery Ryazan.

In May Batalina said that the increase in minimum wage up to 7500 rubles. It would be “a serious measure to protect the revenue, which also reduces the revenue and differentiation in our society.” She noted that the increase in the minimum wage will affect about 1 million workers, of whom 87% work in state institutions. Most often it is women working in the public sector, mainly in the field of education, and technical staff, said the deputy.
