The Duma Committee on Security approved the amendments to the second reading of the anti-terrorism bill introduced by Chairman of the Committee Irina Spring and the head of the Federation Council Committee on Defense, Viktor Ozerov.

The original version of the bill expands the list of grounds on which you can decide to cancel the assignment of nationality. Offers simply revoke the citizenship of terrorism or hostage-taking, attacks on life of a statesman or public figure, violent seizure of power, armed rebellion, sabotage, public calls for extremist activities, separatism.

The Criminal Code amendment introduces a new article, “International Terrorism Act”, the punishment for it provides imprisonment for a period of 15 to 20 years with a restriction of freedom for up to two years or a life sentence. In addition, the bill expands the base of the introduction of the counter-terrorism operation. The authors propose to reduce the minimum age for incurring liability for terrorist crimes to 14 years.
