The State Duma allowed to exchange currency without a passport up to 40 thousand. rub. The law, nearly triple the previously set limit adopted in the third reading

Members of the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings of amendments to the law “On Countering legalization of proceeds from crime and terrorist financing”, simplifying the purchase and sale of small amounts of foreign currency.

According to the existing rules is now the bank must require the customer who wants to exchange for foreign currency more than 15 thousand. rub. or, conversely, to sell the currency for the same amount, to present a passport. And in addition, it has the right to provide additional information – VAT number, phone number, place of work, etc.

Under the new rules (the law will come into force after its official publication) without a passport can buy and sell currencies. worth up to 40 thousand. rub. Those who want to buy or sell the currency by more than 40 thousand. Rub. and less than 100 thousand. rub., it will be enough just to show a passport.

In the explanatory memorandum to the law states that its adoption will reduce the operational burden on the banks and the cost of clearance operations for the exchange of currency by individuals.

In the first reading, the State Duma approved the changes of currency exchange on 20 May.
