The Supreme Court reduced the sentence of Tatarstan operatives Police Department “Far”, convicted in 2014 for the brutal torture of detainees and other crimes. prison term reduced from 2 years to a few months.

Two former police officers “Far” – Ramil Nigmatzyanov and Ilshat Garifullin not involved in the abuse of detainees, pre-trial agreement entered into in July 2012 were sentenced to imprisonment for a term 2 and 2.5 years, respectively.
Their colleagues, who have been charged with more serious charge, nor during the investigation, nor the last word not pleaded guilty.
In the summer of 2014 Volga District Kazan court found former police officers guilty of abuse of office and causing grievous bodily harm that resulted in death of the victim, and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 2 to 15 years.
Since the beginning of the investigation the police department, “Far” was disbanded, and Interior Minister of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov resigned. Shortly thereafter, the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov signed a decree appointing Asgata Safarova Acting Deputy Prime Minister.
