«Today we have no reason to believe that a decrease in the number of jury assessors and participation of professional judges in resolving the issue of fact and law, these figures can somehow change in a negative direction, “- said Davidov.
Davydov said that the number of jurors can be reduced, instead of 12, put 7 in the regional courts, and in the area – up to five people.
But the presidential adviser and former chairman of the Supreme Arbitration Court of Vladimir Yakovlev said that the updated work with the popular jury will make a positive contribution to make the right decisions and highly qualified judges. Because the college of lay judges will participate knowing the business people in the criminal proceedings.
The President of Russia, in turn, supported the expansion of the powers of the jury in this direction work is ongoing. For example, in the 90 years the courts have been directed to 200-300 applications for recruitment of the jury. At the moment it is not enough to send the 1500 – 2000 applications in the capital in order to complement the composition of the twelve people.
