Moscow. 28 Dec. INTERFAX.RU – the correspondent of the American newspaper The New York Times Rebecca Ruiz argues that it is not distorted quotes of Russian officials about the doping program.
“Answer the review of the Kremlin: all the quotes in our article are true,” wrote the journalist on Wednesday via Twitter.
“Russian officials told me that they no longer dispute the existence of doping schemes, they challenge only the fact that doping was under the control of the state,” she said.
Ruiz said she has asked for confirmation of this information to the public head of the Independent anti-doping Commission Vitaly Smirnov, and he replied in the affirmative.
Previously, the newspaper The New York Times reported that Russian officials in an interview for the first time acknowledged the existence in the country doping program. In proof of the publication quoted the acting head of the Russian anti-doping Agency Anna Antselevich.
According to the newspaper, Ancelovici said that “it was an institutional conspiracy”, but stressed that senior management is involved in it were not. Acting head of RUSADA added that she was shocked when it became known about the system of doping control.
meanwhile, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov has called untrue the accusations that in Russia at the state level was a program of support of acceptance of doping by athletes, and called to check on the reliability of the word, which the media attributed to Antselovich.
“It was an interview with The New York Times. First you need to verify the authenticity of these words”, – said Peskov told reporters on Wednesday when asked to comment on interview Antselovich American edition, in which she declared an “institutional conspiracy” against doping in Russia.
on Wednesday, the journalist made an official statement that the author of The New York Times about doping in Russian sport has distorted the word Antselovich.
the Agency explained that during the conversation, Antselovich with Ruiz acting Director General of RUSADA, it was noted that the report published on 9 December 2016, Richard McLaren refused to words “state system of doping” and used the phrase “institutional conspiracy”, excluding, therefore, the possible involvement of highest leadership of the country.
“sorry, Rebecca, Ruiz, was taken out of context these words, gave the impression that the leadership of the journalist acknowledges the existence of institutional schemes of doping in Russia. I would like to emphasize that the journalist is not and could not be authority for the recognition or the denial of such a fact. The investigation deals with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. In addition I would like to note the strong belief of the journalist that each of the accused athlete has the inalienable right to argue against the allegations made,” – noted in RUSADA.
