In total, the company delivered 10 million cubic meters of materials in the amount of nearly 16.2 mln RUB According to the materials of the case, VLK bought the forest at a lower price, and resell at the market. Investigators say that Navalny, Ofitserov and Opalev therefore has committed theft “in favor of third parties”.


Prosecutor Sergei Bogdanov at the meeting of February 3, asked to sentence Navalny and Ofitserov to five and four years probation.

the Case is considered again. The previous sentence was handed down in 2013. The court ordered both defendants a suspended sentence. The European court of human rights found that Russia violated the rights of Navalny and Ofitserov to a fair trial (article 6 of the European Convention on human rights) and the right to punishment under the law. In November 2016 on the basis of the decision of Strasbourg, the Supreme court overturned the conviction of Navalny and Ofitserova, sending the case to the court of Kirov on the revision.

According to the Russian legislation, after the entry of the verdict into force Navalny will not be able to participate in the presidential elections in 2018. At the end of 2016 opposition politician announced the beginning of the campaign.
