the EU has condemned the sentence Navalny in the “case “Kirovec”

European external action service (EEAS) has condemned the sentence of the Leninsky court in Kirov handed down to Alexei Navalny in the “case “Kirovec”. The corresponding statement was published on the EEAS website.

“Today’s verdict of the Leninsky court in Kirov against Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny on charges of embezzlement — is an attempt to stifle another independent political voice in the Russian Federation”, — stated in the message.

IN the EEAS stressed that the decision “effectively eliminates” Bulk “from the political arena” creates “further obstacles to political pluralism in Russia” and “raises serious questions about the fairness of democratic processes in Russia.”

the Judge of the Leninsky court of Kirov Alexei vtyurin on 8 February sentenced the founder of the Fund of struggle against corruption Alexei Navalny to five years probation on the “case “Kirovec”. The second defendant Pyotr Ofitserov received a four year suspended sentence. They also both have to pay a fine in the amount of 500 thousand rubles each, but the court read out the amount they paid for the first “case “Kirovec”.

the Sentence that received the Bulk would not allow him to run for President in 2018, as citizens, sentenced to imprisonment for serious crimes (which include imputed Navalny embezzlement in especially large size), are not eligible to participate in the election within ten years after withdrawal or cancellation of conviction.
