Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree conferring the title of City of Military Glory city Staraya Russa, Petrozavodsk, Grozny, Gatchina and Theodosius.

The Head of State said at the opening of the “Memory Watch” in Staraya Russa.

In 2006, established the title City of Military Glory. It is assigned to the cities, “on whose territory or in the vicinity of which during the fierce battles of the Fatherland defenders displayed courage, fortitude and heroism”, including 12 cities, which was awarded the title “Hero City”.

It is now more than 40 localities of the country have the title City of Military Glory.
