NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Moscow should stop supporting separatists in eastern Ukraine. This itself Stoltenberg said in Brussels after talks with Lavrov on the sidelines of the annual session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
He also said Lavrov that NATO is concerned a large number of sudden military exercises carried out in Russia in recent years.
“We also discussed the need for transparency, particularly when there is increased military presence along our borders,” – said the NATO secretary general. According to him, it is important for NATO to do everything possible to avoid the release of these incidents under control.
The relationship between NATO and Moscow fell to the lowest since the Cold War after the March 2014 Russia annexed The Crimean peninsula, a part of Ukraine.
NATO accuses Russia of supporting the separatists in eastern Ukraine troops and weapons that Moscow denies.
