The State Duma proposes to simplify Russian citizenship to Ukrainians – NIA-Krasnoyarsk

The State Duma faction “Fair Russia” Sergei Mironov, Oleg Nilov and Mikhail Emelyanov prepared a bill which proposed to exempt citizens of Ukraine from the need to present a document authority of a foreign country with a residence permit in Russia and Russian citizenship.


  
 

As stated in the explanatory memorandum to the bill because of the refusal to issue this certificate from the authorities of Ukraine, many Ukrainian citizens are experiencing problems with obtaining a residence permit in the Russian Federation, and the system itself renunciation of citizenship in Ukraine is a multi-stage and complicated bureaucratic procedures.

 

To resolve this problem, legislators propose that the art. 8 of the Federal Law “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation” new paragraph. 3.2.1: “The requirement to provide the documents mentioned in para. 3.2 of this article, submitted by a foreign citizen with an application for a residence permit does not apply to citizens of Ukraine” .

 

At the same time lawmakers propose to abandon the necessary bureaucratic reaction of the Ukrainian side in making the citizens of Ukraine in the Russian citizenship, write “News».


 

Let us recall the procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship established by the Federal Law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation” and is defined in the Decree of the President of Russia dated November 14, 2002 “On Approval of the order of consideration of issues of citizenship of the Russian Federation.” Acquisition of Russian citizenship based on a combination of two principles: the “right of blood» (jus sanguinis) and “jus soli» (jus soli).
