The level of support and validation of Vladimir Putin Russians has grown dramatically over the past two years – this is the result of a study by the Levada Center. Support for President made known 72 – 73% of respondents. “Growth has accelerated since the annexation of the Crimea, but the records of previous years were not covered,” – noted sociologists.
The most attractive feature of Vladimir Putin Russians believe his energy and determination, as well as experience – these qualities marked 41 and 40%, respectively. A quarter of respondents believe that Putin – a true leader who can lead the people.
At the same time, experts note the Levada Center, citizens questioning the ethical qualities of the president. Only 5% of respondents said that they are attracted to the leader of the country’s integrity, honesty, unselfishness. In 2007, the figure was 17%. This year, only 6% of respondents said that they are attracted by the appearance of the leader of the country, while in the first five years of rule, this figure rose from 10 to 18%.
In 2008, Putin expressed support for 77% and 81% of respondents stated a favorable attitude toward Putin. “The record figures in 2008 were associated with a small victorious war in Georgia”, – says expert Levada Center Christina Pipia.
According to her, the fact that in 2014 these figures are close to the 2008 level, due to the annexation of Crimea and unfolded confrontation with the West.
