MPs rejected a law that would oblige the regional deputies sing the national anthem at the opening of Russia as well as at the closing session of the parliament. The authors of this very original and created quite a stir initiatives are members of the Kaliningrad Regional Duma.

The authors of this legislative initiative proposes to amend the Federal Law on the State Anthem of the Russian Federation. The explanatory note to the initiative authors indicated that MPs need during both the opening and closing of the session sing the anthem of the Russian Federation: “It is proposed to establish that the State Anthem of the Russian Federation celebrates the opening and closing sessions of the legislative (representative) bodies of state power of the Russian Federation ».

The authors of this legislative initiative say that the main purpose of which they set for themselves is to develop patriotism and civic responsibility in the legislative bodies of Russian regions.

It is worth noting that the MPs State Duma did not appreciate this kind of legislative initiative. Deputy chairman of the Duma Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Dmitry Vyatkin said that the federal law is impractical to make such amendments, if desired, the issue can be easily resolved by internal documents of each legislative assembly.

Opinions of the State Duma deputies themselves divided, opponents of this law believe that “obyazalovke” nobody needs and the good of it will not, but supporters have recorded almost a prayer before the meeting.
