In the State Duma believe that the statements of a number foreign politicians on reunification of the Crimea with Russia fall under the rules of the Russian Criminal Code

State Duma deputy from the party “Fair Russia» Oleg Mikheev has sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General Russia Yuri Chaika with a request to verify the statements of some foreign politicians and officials about the annexation of Crimea to Russia for the presence of signs of extremism. This was on March 26 the newspaper “Izvestia”, with reference to a copy of the document.

It is, in particular, the former US State Department spokesman Jane Psak , British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond , as well as the leaders of the Ukrainian party “Fatherland» Yulia Tymoshenko , who spoke recently with the public statements of non-recognition of the Crimea with Russia. Thus, the MP indicates that Psak March 16 called the Crimea to Russia “annexation” of the peninsula, and Hammond said on March 22 that Russia should return the Crimea to Ukraine. Tymoshenko MP recalled last year’s series of statements, including appeals to the economic collapse of Russia and intensify the sanctions to coerce Moscow to return the peninsula.

Mikheyev said that the inclusion of the Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia was carried out according to the results of the referendum and in compliance with all necessary legal actions for legitimate union. With this in mind, the application of foreign politicians, being essentially calls for violation of the territorial integrity of Russia, according to Russian law under the concept of “extremist activity” and in need of response from the law enforcement agencies, the deputy believes.

In his letter also states that foreign nationals who commit crimes outside Russia, in accordance with Paragraph 3 of Article 12 of the Criminal Code, subject to criminal liability in cases where the offense was directed against the interests of Russia.
