In Irkutsk, abolished the direct election of the mayor – Russian newspaper

In Irkutsk on Monday, March 23 at a meeting of City Council adopted amendments in the city charter, abolishing the direct election of the mayor.

This was announced by the Duma deputy Alexander Kvasov.

According to a new document, which will come into force after registration in the regional management of the Ministry of Justice and the official publication, Mayor of Irkutsk will be chosen from among the deputies City Council for a term of five years.

The powers of the acting head of Viktor Kondrashov elected citizens, in the end Thursday, March 26.

New mayor will choose 27 March. He will also lead the city administration.
