Merkel confirmed the imposition of new sanctions against Russia – Lenta.ru

The EU adopted sanctions against 19 individuals and nine entities, including from Russia, will enter into force as planned on 16 February, in spite of the new agreement in Minsk, said on Friday, February 13, RIA Novosti reported. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, responding to a question journalists in Brussels, said shortly, “Yes».

It is not excluded that in respect of Russia could be followed by other sanctions if the implementation of new arrangements Minsk go bad.

«If all goes well, we will be happy to accompany this process (on the implementation of the new arrangements in Ukraine), if there are difficulties, we can not rule out further sanctions,” – said Merkel.

Earlier, European diplomatic sources said that the additional EU sanctions against Russia will enter into force on 16 February, in spite of the agreement Minsk, February 12.
