Medvedev: Russia has retained the lead in the space industry – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, April 21 – RIA Novosti. Russia retained its leadership in the space industry in the world market, despite a fairly stiff competition, performing almost half of the total number of space launches, said on Tuesday the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

In his report on the work of the Government in the State Duma, Medvedev said that over the years have been achieved positive results in the aerospace industry and the orbital group of the Russian Federation increased by 17 spacecraft, the total number reached 134 it is about 10% of the global group.

“Despite the rather tough competition, Russia has maintained its leadership position in the global market, performing almost half of the total number of space launches,” – Medvedev said.

He said that in the framework of improving the management system of rocket and space industry to continue the restructuring of the industry and has already started its activities joint-stock company in the aerospace sector. Medvedev said that on this basis and on the basis of the Federal Space Agency plans to create appropriate public corporations.
