Chechen authorities accuse human rights defenders in their office in the center of Grozny was destroyed – radio station Echo of Moscow

The head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov said that the staff of the Committee against Torture is deliberately provoked the conflict for the sake of mentions in the media.

Local authorities tend to justify the actions of masked men, who with crowbars, hammers and saws, stormed the office of the Bulgarian defenders. In “Instagramme” Ramzan Kadyrov said that the Committee against Torture triggers riots in the city, both provoked and this mayhem, quote, “the purpose of having more time to become famous in the world press, to become owners of new US Grant.” According to this version, human rights defenders themselves called to his office the demonstrators, who spoke in support of relatives killed during detention in Grozny Jambulat Dadaeva. Protesters allegedly just asked for help, and the office staff told that murderers do not protect, – said in a blog. Kadyrov himself pogrom regarded as “damaged office furniture.” This was echoed by the official television of Chechnya. TV Company “Grozny” called the incident “spontaneous picket of civil society against the politicization of human rights activities».

During the attack, the office of the Committee against Torture in Grozny was completely destroyed. Human rights activists who were inside were forced to escape through a window of the second floor.
