Armenian President extends condolences on the death of Yevgeny Primakov – RIA Novosti

YEREVAN, June 27 – RIA Novosti. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday sent a message of condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the death of Yevgeny Primakov, reported the Press Service of the Armenian leader.

On Friday it became known that former Prime Minister (1998-1999) and former Foreign Minister (1996-1998), Academician Yevgeny Primakov, has died at the age of 85 years. Orientalist education Primakov in different years headed the academic Institute of Oriental Studies and the Institute of World Economy and International relations.

“It is with deep sadness the news of the death of Yevgeny Primakov – one of the prominent Russian political, government and public figures, whose contribution to the development of Russian statehood is hard to overestimate, “- says the message.

What is remembered Yevgeny Primakov

Yevgeny Primakov was born October 29, 1929 in Kiev. From January 1996 to September 1998 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. In foreign policy strategy was the author of “multipolarity”. From September 1998 to May 1999 Yevgeny Primakov served as Prime Minister. One of the most outstanding events during his tenure as prime minister was the failed visit to the United States. March 24, 1999, Yevgeny Primakov headed to Washington. When the plane was over the Atlantic, the prime minister said that NATO began bombing Yugoslavia. Because of this, Primakov ordered to turn the plane and returned to Moscow.
