About the relations between Russia and Italy

From Italy, Russia has always been very rich and privileged relations in the economy and in politics . However, the Ukrainian crisis has to some extent overshadowed the situation, as well as sanctions. Firstly, I believe that Russia is not to blame for the fact that our relations between the Russian Federation and the European Union have deteriorated. It is not our choice, we have imposed it by our partners, we do not enter any restrictions in trade, economic activity – is entered against us, and we were forced to take retaliatory safeguard measures.
But the relations between Russia and Italy really always had a privileged character in politics and in the economy. In Russia there are 400 Italian companies. We are in the energy sector are working very actively, and in a variety of industries. Italy is the third largest buyer of our energy. But we are working in high-tech sectors, both in space and in the aircraft industry, many other industries. Suffice it to actively cooperate with each other regions of Russia and Italy. Our tourists, almost one million people, about 900,000 people came to Italy in the past year, more than a billion euros, they left there.
We have always been trusting contacts in the political sphere. After all, Italy, then was prime minister Berlusconi, initiated the creation of the Russia-NATO Council. At the initiative of Italy, it was created a consultative body working, which, of course, has become such a prominent factor in ensuring security in Europe. In this sense, Italy and do make is always very significant contribution to the development of the dialogue between Russia and Europe, and even NATO as a whole, I’m not talking about our special relationship in the field of culture, in the humanitarian sphere.
All of this creates Of course, such basic, the special relationship between Russia and Italy. In this regard, the visit of the prime minister in Russia – this is a very important signal of readiness to develop relations with Italy. And, of course, it does not go unnoticed in Russia – and not only in the Government of the Russian Federation, but also among the public. Of course, we are ready to respond in kind, and willing to go further in the development of our relations as much as it will be ready for our Italian partners. I hope that my upcoming trip to Milan will also serve as a time to these goals.

About the relations between Russia and the European Union
We never treat Europe as a to the “mistress.” I speak absolutely seriously. We have always offered a serious relationship. And I now have the impression that Europe is just trying to build a relationship with us on the basis of the material, and only in their favor. Here and in the famous “third energy package”, and the non-admission of our products in the field of nuclear energy to the European market, despite the agreement. There reluctance to recognize the legitimacy of our actions and unwillingness to cooperate with the integration associations in the post-Soviet space, I mean the Customs Union, which we have created and which is now turned into a Eurasian economic union. Because when European countries are integrated, that’s fine, but if we are in the post-doing the same thing, trying to explain Russia’s desire to recreate some of the empire. Why such approaches do not understand.

Look, we’re a long time, and I myself spoke about the need to create a common economic space from Lisbon to Vladivostok. What does this mean for us in practice? This means that we will have to build in some western regions of Russia additional generating capacity … All this will cost us somewhere 2-2.5 billion euros.
Now the association agreement with Ukraine. From Ukraine does not need to become part of the energy system in Europe, but it is seen as an opportunity. If that happens, then we will have to spend for the same purpose is not 2-2.5 billion, and somewhere, perhaps 8-10 billion euros. The question is why, if we consider that the right to build a common economic space from Vladivostok to Lisbon?
About the origins of the Ukrainian crisis

The result – the civil war, hundreds of victims, the collapse of the economy, the social sphere … But if the Americans and the Europeans say to those who commit such unconstitutional actions: we will not support you under any circumstances, so if you will come to power; go to the polls and win (and they have wide, by the way, had a chance to win, everybody knows about it) – the situation would have developed very differently.

I believe that a document that we agreed on in Minsk, “Minsk-2″ – is the most correct and maybe today is the only verified way to solve this problem … We certainly do its part and will continue to do everything it depends on us to have an impact on the authorities of the unrecognized breakaway republics – Donetsk and Luhansk republics. But not everything depends on us. Our partners in Europe and the United States should have a corresponding impact on the Kiev authorities …

First – you need to carry out a constitutional reform, providing autonomous rights respective territories of unrecognized republics … It is necessary to adopt a law on municipal elections in these areas, and it is necessary to adopt a law on amnesty. The problem is that today representatives of the Kiev authorities do not want even the same table negotiating with them to sit down. And this we can not influence. It can affect only our European and American partners …

About the relations with NATO and the United States
