No dead professor John Ekier. Outstanding Polish pianist, teacher and composer, died Aug. 15 at a hospital in Warsaw. He was 101 years.
John Ekier was the editor-in-chief of the National Edition of the Works of Frederick Chopin, as well as multiple juror Chopin Competition in Warsaw.
In 2000, President Aleksander Kwasniewski awarded him the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta Polish.
Four years later, the professor received a special prize of the Minister of Culture, and in 2010 President Bronislaw Komorowski gave him the Order of the White Eagle.
