The country celebrates a major national holiday – the Day of Russia – the First Channel

Exactly 25 years old the day the Congress of People’s Deputies adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty. A year later was elected the first president of the country. And in 1992, the date officially became a holiday, and on June 12 – the day off.

Across the country today – thousands of events: folk festivals, rallies, concerts. In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk staged a mass ascent of Mount Russian. It was attended by hundreds of people. And in the city center conducted an unusual flash mob: lined inscription which can be read with a bird’s-eye view, “I love Russia”.

“Today once again makes it possible for Russian citizens with a sense of pride to say that we – the Russians! In a good mood today, people gathered here to congratulate the open area and emotionally. We are proud of our country and wish her further prosperity” – says Valentin Velichko.

“Russian folk songs, dancing. Very, very nice. And it is this day proves that Russia is still a great power,” – said Catherine Dlukash.

In Vladivostok, Russia’s Day coincided with another date – the 70th anniversary of the Pacific Fleet. On this occasion, the new landing craft “Ivan Kartsov” was officially raised the flag of St. Andrew. Particularly spectacular was the event that held in the Amur Bay. Marathon swim. Distance – 13 kilometers! Undaunted participants did not even summer weather.
