Authorities of the European Union expanded sanctions against Russia. In the black list of persons who have fallen under the financial and travel restrictions, included 19 individuals and nine entities, including singer and Duma deputy from the “United Russia” Joseph Kobzon.
According to the Official Journal of the European Union, including included in the list there are also two Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov and Arkady Bakhin, deputy chief of the General Staff Andrew Kartapolov, as well as the first vice-speaker of the State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Valery Rashkin.
Total list includes 19 new names. The remaining person in sanctioned, are self-proclaimed officials Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic. Among them, the Minister of Communications DNI Victor Yatsenko, deputy head of the Ministry of Defence DNR Edward Basurin, battalion commander “Somalia” Mikhail Tolstoy (callsign Givi) and the battalion commander “Sparta” Arseny Pavlov (callsign Motorola).
Among the nine organizations came under the sanctions, public movement “New Russia” and militia units: Cossack National Guard battalions “Somalia”, “Sparta”, “Dawn”, “Hold”, “Kalmius”, “Death” and the team “Ghost.”
Rashkin said in his account in Twitter, which boasts a hit on the sanctions list. “Oh, I was included in the sanctions list. I am now not entrance. I am proud of. It’s just a gift for my birthday, “- wrote the deputy.
Basurin told Interfax that are alien to Western values and it does not tend to the West. “I have these values alien to western and do not need, I never let them accept. We have our own values. Thanks to them for approval, will know that there will never not make it, “- he said.
Point sanctions were agreed foreign ministers – members of the European Union a week ago, on 9 February. Their introduction has been postponed for a week to wait for the results of the summit talks in Normandy format, which took place on the night of 11 on February 12 in Minsk. Despite the agreement reached on a cease-fire between militias and the Ukrainian army, these sanctions anyway, it was decided to put in place.
The question of new economic sanctions, EU leaders put on the fulfillment of a prisoner in Minsk ceasefire agreement and the withdrawal of troops from the contact line. At the informal EU summit on Thursday, February 12, the European Commission was instructed to work out new sectoral restrictions in case of aggravation of the situation in the Donbass.
The EU imposed in respect of 33 Russian and Ukrainian citizens personal sanctions, which include a ban on entry and seizure of assets, in the spring of 2014 after the annexation of Crimea to Russia. Under the sanctions were deputies Sergei Zhelezniak, Sergei Mironov and Leonid Slutsky, senators Klishas, Oleg Panteleev, Nikolai Ryzhkov, Viktor Ozerov, Vladimir Dzhabarov, Eugene and Alexander Bushmin Totoonov. At the end of January 2015, these sanctions was decided to extend until the end of this year.
